Barefoot Rugs is a small business established in 1996 by fiber artist, Susan Buswell. Susan creates one of a kind hand hooked rugs in her New England studio. Susan's style reflects her love of nature, landscapes, and color, while her workmanship demonstrates her committment to quality.
Barefoot Rugs provides a selection of currently available rugs which may be viewed on the gallery page, or choose to take advantage of Susan's ability to custom design a hand hooked rug for your needs. Rugs may be designed to complement your decor or represent your home, garden, village, even your family, pet or special memory. Imagine a rug uniquely designed for you!
Our rugs are made with a hand held punch needle used to push the rug yarn through the sturdy cotton backing. Making one loop after another, it is described as painting in wool. We use rug yarn made from high quality 100% wool from New Zealand and an all cotton monk's cloth backing. The end result is a unique work of art that will provide years of enjoyment. The rugs are thick, durable, and with proper care will last for generations.
